October 8, 2017 marked the climax of the week-long series of activities done in honor of the commemoration of Rev. Fr. John Scalabrini who went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2016.
The mass prayer held in memory of our beloved Fr. John and specially organized by the Emmaus Foundation (EF) fraternity, was officiated by Fr. Isidore Mbaleeba the parish priest at Bbiina Catholic Parish, who is also the Chairman Board of Directors at Emmaus Foundation. Also present were Justice Remmy Kasule – Board Secretary, Dr. Michael Ochan Kilama – member, Sr. Susan Clare Ndezo – member, Dr. Sylvia Oteng – member and the General Manager EF who was also the host of the just concluded Fr. John Scalabrini commemoration event. The nephew of the late Fr. John – Angelo Scalabrini and wife were also present.
The church was full to capacity with the community members that Fr. John used to lead and commune with as a catholic parish priest, helping the needy among them as they frequently testify. Fr. John’s favorite hymns were sung, led by the school choir from Bishop Cipriano Kihangire Senior Secondary School (BCKSSS), one of the schools built by Fr. John.
The Mass prayer ended at the grave site of Fr. John, where the laying of the wreaths was done and most importantly to pray for his soul.
May his soul rest in eternal peace and his legacy live-on
