Bishop Cipriano Kihangire Secondary Schools (Day and Boarding Sections) were started by Emmaus Foundation with the sole aim of providing quality education especially for the poor. The Day Section was established first in 1999. The Boarding Section came much later, and the two schools have since then been committed to providing quality secondary education that has continued to attract many new entrants. To-date, the Boarding Section alone houses over 1,378 students while the day section is now at 1,354 students and is still growing. This puts the entire school population at 2,732 to-date.
Although the School was established to provide an educational service for the poor, it has exceptionally excelled over the years, to attract even more of those that can afford to pay school fees; this means that the school has the capacity to enroll big numbers of paying students, whose school fees cover most of the costs that the needy students are not able to cover. The overwhelming attraction to the schools is largely attributed to her consistent excellent academic performance, that currently puts the BCKSS Schools to the TOP position in Nakawa Division, according to New Vision, the 5th in Kampala District and 12th in the whole of Uganda. We give glory to God for the Vision that was born by Fr. John Scalabrini (RIP), the Management of Emmaus Foundation and the School Management that have upheld the Vision and the Mission to see our schools succeed to a highly recognizable level in the country.
On the school premises, are quality housing facilities/apartments for the teaching staff. This boosts morale for the teachers and makes it very convenient for them to attend to our children anytime, propelling the great academic performance.
The school also boasts of one of the biggest and well maintained sports center where students enjoy co-curricular activities including physical exercises, sports of all kinds including athletics, football, volleyball and basketball among others.
Our great academic performance is also attributed to the availability of well equipped laboratories, computer rooms, libraries and access ramps for the disabled, for both our Boarding and Day Sections. Our classrooms have state of the art smart boards powered by computers, that have replaced the black/chalk boards. This too is a major contribution to the excellence.
Students also enjoy fresh, delicious and a balanced diet, cooked with care daily by our well trained cooks/chefs, in modern, spotless clean kitchens in both our schools. We take our children’s health seriously and therefore safeguard them from getting sick, hence great academic performances all year round.
